Hi, I just read this article and would like to clarify something. What is referred to as a puka shell looks like a type of scallop shell, not a puka shell.

A puka shell is actually the top of a cone shell (many varieties across the world) that has been worn down by the sand and ocean waves before washing up on a beach. By the time that happens they are generally white or cream but sometimes they still have faint colors like tan, brown or purple. They vary in size, depending on how big the shell was to start with and how long it was tumbling in the ocean before washing ashore. They often have holes in the middle of the shell but not always. They are not flat but curved, like a mushroom cap, and sometimes still have ring lines on the underside of the shell.

I just wanted to share this info so you can give correct info to others. Thanks very much.
